Lost Canine Guidance
When we grind our teeth from side to side the back teeth are protected to some extent by the canines. The back teeth are ‘separated’ as the canines meet. If the canines wear away, then the opposing back teeth will touch when grinding side to side. This can cause fracturing of the sides of the […]
Dry Socket
After a damaged tooth is removed the ‘socket’ naturally produces a blood clot. Over time the gum will heal over the clot, and gum tissue is restored. However, after the tooth is removed the clot can be lost by premature rinsing for example. This causes the bone can be exposed to the air and can […]
Barrier Whitening
Before applying tooth whitening gel, the gums need to be protected. A protective barrier is applied and hardened using a bright light. The whitening gel is then applied and activated using a bright light. The whitening gel will stay on the teeth for some time. This is then washed away, leaving bright, white teeth.
Tooth Development
Tooth Development is a complex process where teeth start to form from embryonic cells and erupt in the mouth later. Each process of tooth development begins at different foetal stages. Teeth go through bud, cap, and bell stages before it becomes a tooth that is ready for eruption.
Crown Margin
Over time the gum can recede away from the crown, the portion of the crown that becomes visible is known as the crown margin. The old crown can be removed, and a new deeper crown can be fitted to cover this area.
Anterior Crown
The tooth is prepared, and an impression is taken. A crown is made from the impression and fitted over the tooth.
Interspace Brush
Periodontal disease causes pocketing around the necks of the teeth. When left undisturbed plaque bacteria can thrive in these pockets causing the pockets to deepen. A standard toothbrush is not able to access these pockets. The TePe Interspace brush can access these pockets and disrupt bacteria. Regular use will discourage disease-causing bacteria from accumulating.
Resorption
Normal Development. Development showing resorption. Action of teeth under the gum. The tooth wears away the existing tooth. The existing tooth may be lost.
Over Denture
Partial dentures can sometimes move as gums change shape. If you have a healthy tooth a stud can fixed on it and the denture ‘clicks’ onto this stud to secure it in place.
Root Treatment (Multi)
Root treatments on back teeth can be more complicated because they have multiple roots. The root canals are exposed, all roots then need to be excavated making sure that the entire tooth nerve is removed. The cavity is then filled with gutta perchas and the tooth is then filled.
